2)  Invite your firends to one of the many upcoming Information Sessions already scheduled.  Click here for the calendar.

3)  Send a personal email to your friends and share with them why you give.  Read Lisa Kaminski's email to her friend.

Your Level of Involvement

Members of Impact 100 may choose to pay their membership contribution and do nothing more until the Annual Dinner in September. Or, they may choose to be involved in one of our five focus areas, or various other committees.  Feel free to let us know if you would like to be involved by sending us feedback on the "contact us" link.

Additional Information

A board member will chair each focus area. That board member and a committee of members will request and evaluate proposals from non-profit agencies in the Greater Cincinnati area.

The agencies will be informed that they are applying for a $100,000 grant (or more, based on the number of members). After research, site visits and other necessary due diligence, each committee will narrow their choice to one deserving agency.

Each focus area's most deserving agency will be represented at our Annual Meeting. At this event, members will listen to presentations from each Committee and their chosen non-profit and vote for their choice to receive the $100,000 grant(s).

Each member will have the opportunity to vote, regardless of her involvement on a specific committee. The agency receiving the highest number of votes will receive the grant for that year. The money will be presented prior to year-end in a celebration in which all members will be welcome. Since 2004, our membership has topped 200, allowing us to give out two grants of at least $100,000 each.

Example Email to Send to Friends

Dear Friend,

I’d like to tell you about an organization that I am involved with and means a great deal to me.  Impact 100 is an inclusive organization created in 2002 in Cincinnati with a mission to provide the opportunity for women to pool their donations in order to make a bigger philanthropic impact in our community.

Impact 100 makes it possible to support nonprofit organizations in transformational ways by pooling resources to make donations of at least $100,000.  In 2002 we started with 123 members and donated $123,000 dollars to the McMicken Dental Center, a clinic that serves homeless and indigent people in Over-the-Rhine.  In 2003 we had 184 members and made a single donation of $184,000 to Tender Mercies, an organization that provides permanent housing to those with mental illness.  In 2004, we expanded our membership to over 200 members and have awarded two $100,000+ grants each year to nonprofit organizations.  (For more information on the specific grant recipients, please see… http://impact100.org/pages/content/grant_recipients.html)

The concept is simple - each member or group makes a tax deductible donation of $1,000 and votes at the annual meeting on which organization will receive the funds.  If you join as a group, you can donate $250 with 3 friends or $500 with 1 friend and together you will have one collective vote at the annual meeting.

I know everyone is busy, but a neat thing about this group is that it does NOT require a time commitment.  You can be involved as much or as little as you want.  The following are some of the qualities that impressed me about Impact 100:

  • Membership is open to women of all ages and phases of life
  • 100% of the membership donations go to the grant recipients
  • Values all levels of involvement – a person who contributes monetarily is valued as much as someone who chooses to volunteer her time
  • Each $1000 donation (membership) has one vote for the annual grant recipient(s)

·        Provides an opportunity to review grants and/or visit nonprofits to see the daily operations and gain hands-on knowledge of the issues and needs of our community and see how our contributions are making a difference

·        Provides an opportunity for a diverse group of like-minded women who consciously choose to unite towards common goals and make a significant impact in our community

·        Provides an opportunity for friends to spend time together in spite of busy schedules while attending the Impact 100 events

As individuals, we likely will not ever have the opportunity to give on such a large scale, but collectively we can make significant gifts to help transform our community.  Please let me know if you would like to learn more about Impact 100 and the exciting opportunity to make Greater Cincinnati a better place to live.

Lisa K.
